How to Prepare for a massage / What to expect

Prior to a Massage:
I will go through a short series of questions to evaluate your past and current state of health. This information will be kept confidential and updated each visit. You will be asked to dress down to your comfort level and relax on the massage table. I will leave the room at this time. If your hair is long, you may want to pin it up. All jewelry should be removed as well as contact lenses. You will be provided with space for your personal belongings. Get cozy under the provided drape, relax and focus on your breath.

During a massage: Communication is essential! If any technique is painful or unpleasant, for any reason, let me know immediately.

Temperature: Should the temperature in the room be too cool or too warm for your comfort, let your therapist know.

After a massage: Massage therapy promotes a release of toxins from the body tissues. In order to flush toxins from the body, it is imperative that you drink a sufficient amount of water. Keep drinking until the water passed from the body is clear. During massage you are sometimes lying prone (face down) for an hour or longer. This may cause dizziness upon standing up. Therefore, when getting up after the massage, move slowly. Sit on the edge of the table and steady yourself before standing.
